Mother’s Best Music Fest
|
Middle of August Delta Cultural Center info@culturalcenter.com
The Mother’s Best Music Fest is based on the tradition of one man band and cigar box musicians who construct their own instruments. Helena was home to one of the most recognized figures in this genre Doctor Isaiah Ross. “Helena had music innovators that gave birth to the blues, artist that built their own instruments, or created a new style like Dr. Ross” commented Terry Buckalew, “A festival that celebrates musicians who are innovators both in style and unique instruments should feel a linage to the musical heritage of Helena. This was the inspiration behind the festival’s name which originated with the 1940’s radio show in Helena that featured musical innovators from the region.”
